Snowshoe What to Bring and What to Wear
- Check the Taos Ski Valley weather the night before to dress appropriately
- Dress in layers with a winter windproof/waterproof shell jacket with hood & pants
- Calf high Smartwool non cotton socks that do not fall down and bunch up (bunching/falling socks can quickly cause painful blisters!)
- Polypropylene underwear: top and bottom to wick perspiration and keep you warm and dry
- We recommend you wear water/windproof ski pants or similar, not water absorbent cotton jeans, stretch leggings or yoga pants
- We recommend you wear insulated above the ankle winter boots, no street shoes, no low ankle summer hiking, street fashion boots or sneakers.
- Snowboard boots work well. One day snowboard boot rentals are available at ski rental shops around the Taos Ski Valley Area and rental shops in town. Reserve in advance!
- Daypack to stow clothing layers, snacks and a thermos of hot chocolate
- Sunglasses
- 50 PFD Sunscreen, put it on before you arrive
- Bottle of water
- Winter Water/Wind Proof Gloves or Mittens
- Warm Sun Visor Hat
